I'll say this, goverment ran health care works extremely well.........in Europe. But the US isn't copying the European Unions layout of goverment healthcare. Over there, there is no health insurance or limits to doctors or illnesses, you get sick, you're treated cause your taxes pay for it, and personal taxes there are no worse than here, actually I believe they're better. Good thing is, people in Europe are in completely better health than in the US as a result. No the doctors over there don't make 1 million+ dollars a year, but they do make a nice living.
In short, I agree, our health care system sucks, and is completely broken, however Obama's plan isn't the key, it isn't going to fix squat. Here's what needs to be done:
* Incorporate health care into taxes (like police pay, schools, etc.).
* Eliminate doctor cuts for perscriptions (same medicine in the US that cost $100 cost $5 in almost all other countries).
* Pay doctors based on their patients general health from tax money (the better the doctor, the better the patients health, the better their pay).
* Eliminate all health care/insurance companies (yes jobs will be lost but it will average out in the long run with new jobs created by the tax system).
* Set up in home doctor program (in other words, instead of pizza delivery, call the hospital and request the doctor come see you, new job created here).
* Set up better nation wide health program to drive smarter eating (this will come more naturally when people can see a doctor for free because it's paid by taxes).
* No increase in taxes "ANYWHERE" when program starts, funds must be derived from current taxes, that's right, corrupt politicians can't pocket all that money any more.
* Foriegn studies/exchange program, incourage new upcoming doctors to study/intern in the European Union, to better understand the system, learn other cultures, and build bridges with other nations. Same for doctors in EU.
* Make strict laws against malpractice with stern consiquences, this will reduce the likely hood of doctor errors that currently make up a large part of our broken system.
* Make strict laws that no practician, or hospital can charge any patient for any service offered.
