« on: February 26, 2009, 08:47:06 AM »
So lately when i shift i occasionally get loud banging noise. I'm not sure if its coming from the trans itself or if it might be a bad u-joint. i dunno though.  :dontknow:

Describe loud banging. Is there any  grinding or just a thud or thunk sound? Is when you shift fast or even when you shift slow? If it's when you shift slow is it from putting it into gear or letting out the clutch???

As stated, need more info, but a good way to tell is jack up your rear, put your car on stands, turn it on, and see if it makes the noise suspended off of the ground with the car in gear.

It would do it at an idle in neutral then the noise would just stop after a min or two.

so, its not while you shift? its just a clunk or thud or bang as the car sits there?   id go for a new pulley or clutch...  mine was having a simular issue, turned out it was the crank pulley.
