Question about performance chip.
« on: January 18, 2011, 07:39:18 PM »
I am trying to figure out if I have a chip on my 98 GT. I have found the computer behind the kick panel on the passenger side of the car. How am I able to tell if there is a chip there? Do I need to pull out the computer or open it up? And if so, how do I go about doing so.  I have attached a photo of the computer area. Thanks for any help.

Yes you will need to remove the pcm (computer) if there is a aftermarket chip it will on the far side from the harness you will see the chip protruding  from the pcm. If there is just a rectangle hole on the other side where you can see in to the housing then you know that someone did have on installed on it at one time.
