Project Spectre
« on: July 27, 2011, 07:59:26 PM »
I've been wanting to do this for a while. This is gonna be another build, but a different kind of build. I'm still in the planning stages so I won't go into detail too much right now. It won't be a very extensive build as it will only require the purchase of a few (expensive :confused1:) parts. I can tell you that it will be bad a** when it's done. I'm gonna need some help from you guys with some opinions to help make some tough decisions, should be fun though.

I'm appropriately naming this build:

Project: Spectre

spec·ter
   [spek-ter]
noun
1. a visible incorporeal spirit, especially one of a terrifying nature; ghost; phantom; apparition.

I'll give you a hint: It's chambered in 5.56 NATO (.223 Rem)

Parts List:
Flat Dark Earth Magpul CTR Stock (Mil-Spec)         $105.11
Flat Dark Earth Magpul MIAD Grip Basic Kit &
Black Magpul Enhanced Trigger Guard                   $  62.88
Magpul ASAP                                                          $  30.00
Spikes Tactical STT2 heavy buffer & mil spec tube $  59.00
Spikes Tactical standard lower parts kit                $   60.00
Spikes Tactical stripped lower receiver                  $  106.00
Lower receiver assembly by The Arms Room         $    25.00
Magpul Maglevel PMAGs in FDE (2)                        $    36.00
Magpul AFG2 Angled Foregrip Black                       $    33.54
Magpul XTM Rail Panels FDE                                  $    23.91
Magpul PMAG Ranger Plates FDE                           $    11.09
Yankee Hill Machine Black Diamond Specter          $   899.99
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Total:                                       $1452.52

The wording slightly confuses me, :dontknow: is it a sly way of saying bullit? I might be just lost but when I think 5.56 NATO I think M16. I like the red white and blue and the awesome project name though, looking forward to seeing what you do with your already really nice Mustang :)

Haha sorry, it's not built yet but I'll be starting soon. You're close not an M16 but an AR-15 carbine.

I wanna do a FDE & black color combo similar to this:

Wow that's bad a** only downside is it's $230 lol $70 more and I can have my lower receiver. For now I'm gonna stick with some FDE Maglevel PMAGs with black ranger plates  :sleepy3:

My stock came in today. It was hard to decide between the ACS and the CTR, but in the end I opted for the CTR.

Definitely! I'll be adding many more of their products to the list. They make quality gear for decent prices. I don't wanna cut corners with this rifle.

Bought my lower receiver at the gun show this past Sunday it's the spikes tactical lower with a standard parts kit and enhanced heavy buffer. I also had the guy install the Magpul ASAP (Ambidextrous Sling Attachment Point) it was all assembled by The Arms Room, great guys and they had it together in no time.

On a side note the YHM Black Diamond Specter upper receiver is already on its way :)
